Broom making Supplies

It truly brings me joy to teach broom making!

If you feel inspired to continue your journey of making brooms, below is a list of supplies and links.

I’m always happy to travel and teach a class if you have a group that would like to learn. Just reach out via email and we can find a time to chat - hello@cassestes.com

I host other classes and workshops too, join my newsletter or follow me on Instagram to stay in the loop. Honestly, I don’t email or post a lot.

Warmly,

Cass

P.S. If you want a snake sweatshirt or tee, I only print them a couple of times a year.

Broomcorn - If you are local to Hood River or Portland you can always reach out to me and see if I have any for sale. Otherwise I suggest just googling for suppliers. Etsy and Amazon carry it!

Nylon Cord - The cord I use is called ESPIGA NO.18 by Omega - 100% Nylon String Cord

The color names may vary, so refer to the numbers below for some of the colors I like. There are sooooooo many colors to choose from, it’s hard to narrow it down.

Gold 171, Terracotta 39, Red 6, Grey 83, Beige 17, Pale Blue 49, Dark Green 35, Blackberry 47

You can find it HERE or HERE or just google for other suppliers.

Shears - For trimming the sweeping end of the broom, Fiskars PowerArc Easy Action Shears (10 Inch)

Pipe Cutter - For trimming the top of the handle, HERE is the one I purchased at my local hardware store.

Leather cord - This is for the hanger, you can find it HERE and the size is 5/32" x 50' (4mm x 15m).

Spindle Tool - These are made by a local woodworker named Lacey, you will need to contact her directly about purchasing one. She is a gem and teaches woodworking classes in the Gorge.

Swept Away - This is a wonderful book for inspiration and history, you can find it HERE.

Happy Broom Making!!
