Primal Pleasure

SOLO PRACTICE

Primal breathing is about inhaling a deep full breath and sounding as you release, activate and open your energy.

This practice will guide you in invoking and embodying a chosen quality, energy, or archetype. As you perform primal breathing, you’ll be invited to let go, breathe deeply, and fully embody the energy.

Find a quiet, private space where you can feel free to express yourself fully without holding back. Prepare to invoke a specific quality, energy, or archetype.

Step 1

Choose a quality, energy, or archetype to invoke and embody.

Examples might be:

• A god/goddess archetype like Lakshmi or Shiva

• An element such as fire, water, earth, or air

• A quality like pleasure, aliveness, wildness, or strength

Take a moment to visualize or feel what embodying this quality would look and feel like.

Step 2

Speak aloud: “I intend to embody [quality/energy/archetype] fully.” Declare your commitment to connect deeply with this energy.

Step 3

Dedicate this practice to your chosen energy. For example, say, “I offer this experience to [fire, pleasure, goddess energy].” By consecrating it, you’re inviting the energy to fully emerge within you.

Step 4

Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Start breathing deeply, allowing each inhale to expand your chest and each exhale to release tension. On the exhale, let your pelvis move forward, and on the inhale, let it swing back. As you continue, intensify your breath, allowing sounds and movements to arise naturally. Growl, moan, or make any primal sounds that feel right. Allow yourself to fully express without judgment, while inviting pleasure into your system.

Step 5

Stand still, close your eyes, and mentally repeat the name or quality of the energy you’re invoking. Imagine it filling your entire body, from head to toe. Feel it expand and activate within you.

Step 6

Allow yourself to move intuitively, following your impulses. Move, sway, or even dance if you feel like it, embodying the quality you’re invoking.

Step 7

Pause and return to primal breathing, either standing or lying down with your knees up. Let go and breathe deeply, rocking your pelvis with each breath, releasing any sound or movement that arises.

Step 8

Come to stillness and repeat the quality or archetype’s name internally, feeling it deepen within you. Imagine that this energy is filling and strengthening every cell of your body.

Step 9

Move freely, following any impulses that arise. Continue to embody this energy, letting it flow through you without restriction.

Step 10

Take another pause to breathe deeply, reconnecting with the primal breath. Focus on breathing fully and letting any remaining tension release through sound and movement.

Step 11

Stand still once more and repeat the quality or archetype’s name internally, feeling it completely rooted within you.

Step 12

When you feel complete, pause and take a moment of stillness. Give thanks to the energy you’ve embodied, feeling a sense of gratitude for the experience and for connecting with this powerful quality within yourself.
